Lord, grant me an “active life of compassion”. Full stop. Amen.🙏🏼

Good works count (says a dyed -in-the-wool Lutheran)! But so does a redeemed heart. It’s a balance isn’t it? Sunday only Christians need to participate in the struggles of the world in order to be truly redeemed.

Thanks for this, Reidar. I appreciate you reading daily!

Someone on FB remarked about Luther's first thesis, which I looked up and love: "When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, 'Repent' (Mt. 4:17), he willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance."

I think this gets right at it. I'm not sure I'd use the word "balance," but 100% of both heart and action, not unlike Jesus' combination of divinity and humanity. :-)

But I think we think pretty much exactly alike on this. "...in order to be truly redeemed" for sure.

Jeremy; thanks for this kind reply. I do try to read your posts every day, along with those from Jody McKewen and Paul Dazet. I’m relatively new to all this. My dormant faith was re-ignited about 9 months ago and Substack writers like you have sustained my faith in a way that wouldn’t have been able otherwise. God bless you and yours always.
