Within the realm of the created order of nature, probably not. But I'm not so sure this is about fig trees. Most all illustrations/metaphors/etc. break down upon more detailed examination.
But within what I'm feeling today, the fig tree had a lot of show (leaves), but upon closer examination, wasn't producing anything of worth.

Do you think the fig tree’s purpose is to bear figs outside of fig season though?
