Ascension Day
Mark’s account of the ascension is as brief and simply mentioned as we might expect from him (it’s one verse - below). It’s from Luke’s accounts that we understand the ascension to have taken place 40 days after the resurrection. Well, if you can believe it, it’s been forty days since Easter Sunday. Today is Ascension Day.
What does it mean to you that Christ ascended from the earth to be with God?
Mark 16:10
After the Lord Jesus spoke to them, he was lifted up into heaven and sat down on the right side of God.
Prayer
God,
As I begin this Ascension Day, I remember the ascent of Jesus Christ to the heavens, fulfilling His promise to fill all things. Help me understand what it means that he fills all things. I mean, it sounds really good. I’d love to see its fruition. So give me the faith to recognize his enduring presence with the Church on earth, even until the end of time. Help us ascend with him in our hearts and minds, dwelling continually in his presence. May we reign with Him, united with You and the Holy Spirit, as one God, now and for eternity.
By your spirit & in Christ,
Amen.
Happy Ascension Day!
